Fierce Advocate Driven By Justice
Ms. Scott has been accused of being obstreperous. She’s been heard once or twice to joke about it. It’s almost a point of pride. The dictionary definition of “obstreperous” is this:
“Marked by unruly or aggressive noisiness; CLAMOROUS: stubbornly resistant to control: UNRULY.”
To an attorney representing the opposing side, the lawyer in the other corner whose job it is to bring a finding against you, the word might be applied in an unflattering way, one that would suggest Ms. Scott is difficult to get along with; that she’s a stubborn advocate who can’t be snowed because she knows the law and she knows the facts of your case.
To her clients, the word takes on a far different meaning. To her clients, Ms. Scott is a staunch ally and tireless fighter committed to building the strongest case and the best defense possible – and presenting even the most complicated set of circumstances in a simple, straight-forward way that a jury can understand.
Ms. Scott doesn’t take shortcuts. She doesn’t take the easy way out. She works hard to make sure she knows all the circumstances surrounding your case – and she plans ahead to anticipate the opposition and eliminate surprises.
She works hard to make sure that, at every possible opportunity, the system works for you – not against you.
The long and the short of it is that Ms. Scott does not like to lose. Actually, that’s not quite true – she hates to lose. To that end, yes, she can be obstreperous.
It’s part of the reason she wins as often as she does.
It’s also a big part of why her clients feel good about having her in their corner.
